The Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (WREGIS) is an independent, renewable energy tracking system for the region covered by the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC). WREGIS tracks renewable energy generation from units that register in the system using verifiable data and creates renewable energy certificates (RECs) for this generation.

WREGIS was developed through a collaborative process between the Western Governors’ Association, the Western Regional Air Partnership, and the California Energy Commission. The development was further guided by means of stakeholder input gathered over a period of more than 3 years from more than 400 participants from across the western region.

WREGIS is governed by a 7 member committee consisting of representatives from various stakeholder groups. Interested parties can participate going forward by joining the Stakeholders Advisory Committee (SAC).
