The WREGIS Committee has established three subcommittees to perform in-depth evaluation of issues facing WREGIS and make recommendations to the larger WREGIS Committee. These subcommittees are the Policy Subcommittee, the Operations Subcommittee, and the Change Control Subcommittee. The Policy Subcommittee will examine issues affecting how WREGIS is used and governed, with “policy” in this context referring to WREGIS policies, not broader renewable energy policies. The chair of the Policy Subcommittee is Suzanne Korosec (California Energy Commission), and the vice-chair is Jack King (Western Electricity Coordinating Council). The Policy Subcommittee is seeking volunteers to serve on the subcommittee to provide technical and analytical input on a variety of issues. The subcommittee will meet once a month via conference call to discuss items that have been referred to the subcommittee by the WREGIS Committee, with additional analysis and evaluation done by individual subcommittee members as needed. At this time, there are two outstanding issues that have been referred to the Policy Subcommittee. The first is a request for WREGIS to interface with the ERCOT system in Texas. The second is a request to increase the number of allowable subaccounts (currently set at 20). Each of these issues will require evaluation of whether the proposed changes further the objectives of WREGIS, how the changes will impact the WREGIS system and other WREGIS users, what software changes would be needed to implement the changes, and what the costs of the changes would be. After completing its evaluation, the Policy Subcommittee will present its findings and a recommendation to the WREGIS Committee. Members of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee will provide the crucial experience and expertise needed to fully evaluate the impacts of proposed changes to the WREGIS system, and SAC members are strongly encouraged to participate in one (or more) of the subcommittees. The Operations Subcommittee will examine issues affecting the routine operations of WREGIS, both regarding operations at the WREGIS staff level, and for account holders. The chair of the Operations Subcommittee is Gregg Morris (Green Power Institute), and the vice-chair is Suzanne Korosec (California Energy Commission). The Operations Subcommittee is seeking volunteers to serve on the subcommittee to provide technical and analytical input on a variety of issues. The subcommittee will meet once a month via conference call to discuss items that have been referred to the subcommittee by the WREGIS Committee, with additional analysis and evaluation done by individual subcommittee members as needed. At this time, there are no outstanding issues that have been referred to the Operations Subcommittee. This is not surprising, given that the system has only recently begun operations, and has not yet even issued any certificates. As certificates are issued and transferred, we expect to become active as a subcommittee to the WREGIS Committee. Members of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee will provide the crucial experience and expertise needed to fully evaluate the operations and operability of the WREGIS system, and SAC members are strongly encouraged to participate in one (or more) of the subcommittees. If you are interested in serving on the Operations Subcommittee, please contact Gregg Morris at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . |
